Two methods, different results. Here's an honest breakdown of how each works, when we use which, and why purified water has become our go-to for most exterior cleaning.
A water-fed pole is exactly what it sounds like — a telescoping pole with a brush head that's fed by a continuous flow of purified water through the pole itself. That water has been run through a deionization (DI) system that strips out all the dissolved minerals, salts, and impurities that normal tap water contains.
Here's why that matters: when regular tap water dries on glass, it leaves behind those minerals as white spots or streaks. Purified water has nothing left to deposit — so when it dries, the glass is genuinely clean. No squeegee, no towels, no risk of leaving marks.
The brush agitates the glass surface while the water rinses continuously. This combination is remarkably effective at removing pollen, salt deposits, grime, and oxidation — especially on exterior glass that's been exposed to South Florida's climate.
Interior glass is the main one. Water-fed poles push a lot of water, which works great outside but isn't appropriate indoors. For interior cleaning — dining room windows, interior office glass, residential interior panes — we use the traditional squeegee and solution method with microfiber towels for detailing.
Traditional cleaning is also our go-to for specialty glass treatment. Hard-water stain removal, shower glass restoration, and some architectural glass types respond better to targeted solution work than to a high-volume water rinse.
Neither method is universally superior — they solve different problems. On most South Florida exterior glass, the water-fed pole wins on safety, speed, consistency, and results. The no-ladder approach also protects your landscaping and hardscape from the damage that can come with ladder use over time.
For interior glass and specialty surfaces, traditional cleaning gives us the precision control that the job requires. Most of our jobs use both methods in the same visit — WFP on the exterior, squeegee on the interior.
For exterior work, yes — and the reason is the water itself. Tap water leaves mineral residue when it dries (those white spots). Pure 0-10 TDS water has no minerals to leave behind, so it dries truly clean even out of reach of a squeegee. You also get the whole window including the frame cleaned. It also keeps us safely on the ground for two- and three-story windows. For interior work, we still use squeegee technique — different tools for different jobs.
