Tap water — even filtered tap water — contains dissolved minerals: calcium, magnesium, sodium, silica, and other ions picked up as water moves through pipes and the ground. These minerals are invisible in the water but become very visible on glass when the water evaporates, leaving white spots, streaks, and a hazy film.
Deionization removes these ions entirely. Water passes through a tank filled with ion-exchange resin — a specialized material that swaps out dissolved mineral ions for hydrogen and hydroxyl ions, which then combine to form pure H₂O. What comes out the other side is water with a TDS (total dissolved solids) reading at or near zero.
When zero-TDS water evaporates off glass, there's nothing left behind. That's why it dries spot-free without any wiping, squeegeeing, or towel work.
What TDS means
TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids — measured in parts per million (ppm). Palm Beach County tap water typically runs 200–400 ppm. Our DI system produces water at 0–5 ppm. That's the difference between water that spots glass and water that doesn't.
The ion-exchange resin inside a DI tank gets depleted as it works. Once the resin is saturated, the TDS reading starts to climb and the tank needs to be recharged or replaced. We monitor our TDS output continuously — if the reading rises, we know before the water quality on your windows degrades.
South Florida's municipal water has higher mineral content than many parts of the country, which means our tanks work harder here than they would up north. We factor this into our equipment maintenance schedule so you never get subpar results.

Many of our systems combine deionization with a reverse osmosis membrane. R/O is a pre-filtration stage that removes the bulk of dissolved solids before the DI resin takes it the rest of the way to zero. This extends the life of the DI tank and improves overall output consistency.

A DI (deionized) machine filters water through special resin that removes all dissolved minerals, producing 0-10 TDS water. When this ultra-pure water dries on glass, there are no minerals left behind — so windows dry perfectly clean without spots or streaks.
For exterior work, yes — and the reason is the water itself. Tap water leaves mineral residue when it dries (those white spots). Pure 0-10 TDS water has no minerals to leave behind, so it dries truly clean even out of reach of a squeegee. You also get the whole window including the frame cleaned. It also keeps us safely on the ground for two- and three-story windows.
